ut it is not actually an effective way to get to know people, and in fact quickly leads to these very peculiar asymmetric relationships where I become quite fond of someone whom I originally subscribed to because I liked her posts about books and tv, and now I can describe her three cats, their individual personalities and their snack preferences, but I've never actually talked to her. --dhara
