Dollhouse

Having now seen the whole season, I think my fundamental issue with this show is that given the setting, the questions I'm interested in are fundamentally ethical and the questions the show's interested in are fundamentally about identity.

Well, identity and putting Eliza Dushku in short skirts. )

Any others people can think of?
Miss Parker in the Pretender had some serious mommy issues. I mean, not unfounded as her mom was killed by the Centre when she was, like, 8. (Jarod, too, has both mommy and daddy issues, but Parker takes the cake)

Yeah, good point. I just automatically think of her relationship with her father when thinking of that show, because it's such a big part of her character, but you're right, first season was hip-deep in Mommy issues.

You think? I mean... sure, she had some issues, but I guess I don't think of them as central to her character. I guess I throw all of her issues with her parents in a big box labelled "Peacekeepers" and don't differentiate.

Reid on Criminal Minds has all sorts of Mommy Issues.

Died when he/she was young? Wait, Criminal Minds is a catch-the-criminal show, so was Mommy murdered by a serial killer who was never found?

Oh, no, Mommy is still alive. She's living in an institution. He visits occassionally. Not as much as he thinks he should. She was just brilliant and insane, and not a particularly good mother to young brilliant Reid...who sometimes wonders if he is inheriting her mental issues.

"Alias" had plenty of mommy issues.

"Mad Men" plays Betty as having some mommy issues, but in a very subtle way, like it does nearly everything else.

Back when I was watching "Heroes," the Petrelli boys had some definite mommy issues going on, and arguably also Claire and Sylar.
