The story that wasn't

I never reached the J/D in this, though obviously it was supposed to show up eventually. SG-1, also S4 or S5.

In Which Not All Intelligent Life Can Be Bipedal )

fic, sg-1 fanfic, stargate sg-1

so many wonderful details that build the people and their world beautifully.

seeing the familiar characters through different eyes is remarkable and as a result they all become more tangibly present.

oh i love this: "because how often does one get a compliment from a talking, hairless bear, or possibly a fairy? For his part, I found him quite unattractive, but I of course didn't say so."

delightful meeting, and lovely ending.

Thanks! Yeah, that was one of my favorite lines too. Kekari's all "well... okay, I guess."

That's wonderful. So glad you posted!

And I also hope you get inspired to finish it one day, although I really enjoyed it just as is.

Hee. I hope so too--we'll see. I do like Kekari, and now that I'm free of the J/D I know the basic shape of the story, but I don't know that I'll ever actually write it.

Thanks! We'll see what happens, but I'm glad you liked it, because I kind of like it too.

Ooooh, excellent world building. We just don't get enough truly believable alien civilizations in SG fanfic.

Plus once again you've got the characters down pat. Jack is just so Jack in this, especially the "polly want a cracker" line. It made me lol.

Thanks for sharing this even if it is unfinished. It was very enjoyable.

Thank you! I don't know about believable--"they were genetically engineered!" was my mental answer to several issues, most of which aren't really obvious here--but I thought it would be fun to do something with a non-bipedal intelligence for once. I can see why the show hasn't gone there, but it's a shame fic doesn't more often, I think.
