I had planned to definitely go a little more in-depth into what happened when and how it affected everything, but I was battling some pretty severe writers' block and I ran out of time and was determined to get this out by the deadline. I know the prompt I gave was one that not a lot of people would be able to do and the fic that was written was wonderful, even though it took a different perspective.
*sigh* Which just makes me feel guiltier that my own effort was so cobbled together and left out a lot of stuff.
I don't even care that I haven't gotten much feedback, because I fully feel that it doesn't even deserve any feedback.

And then at the same time, I normally won't go too in-depth with a review of my own, because I don't like to make assumptions about another author's intent, unless it's spelled out in the notes or summary. Or I'll point out one of my favorite parts. With you, that's pretty much impossible unless I want to quote every word of every one of your fics on your site. Or keep telling you how I want to be you, but that's not even constructive praise. Earned praise, yes. But it'd probably be tiring if you hear the same thing over and over.
If I get the itch, I might go back over this and expand it a bit, but right now I'm just too disappointed in my own effort and not lack of feedback or anything. I feel bad, too, because I have a feeling it didn't satisfy the person it was intended for.

I'll admit that it took me a much longer time than it should have to come up with a series of events that would alter, but not completely change, the world we know. I think it would be plausible for Laura, in a moment of needing someone to tell her she was doing the right thing (and not someone she could just order, like Cottle or Tory), to approach Bill with her plans for Hera's upbringing. Probably hoping that he'd be able to see past the hideousness to the necessity. And I don't think he'd be able to do that.
And then I started wondering what would have happened if someone had been more careful in replacing the ballots. And it sort of snowballed from there.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
