I thought my deadlines for two of my grad applications were at midnight today, just to find out about five minutes ago that they very likely could have been at 5. I never saw anything listed on the website...had absolutely no indication that there could be a time fuck-up ( Read more... )

shit happens, grad school is for masochists

Were you off reading gradcafe? I saw that post, too. I think there is no way that an app would be due at 5pm--especially on a holiday! It just doesn't make sense and it is something that would hava to be in big bold letters on their website, you know?

I was looking at applyingtograd, just a little while ago...but I'm really hoping you're right. I know these websites are lacking in info, but you'd think they'd have to mention a deadline time if there was one. And I've never seen a site that listed anything like that.

Nevermind the ridiculousness of having a deadline on a holiday...if they're getting picky about time, I might have to storm angrily around the first admissions office I can find.

I've been meaning to comment here for a while, but haven't gotten around to it. I've been following your journal since sometime last autumn when I found it through the WGI-page (which I decided not to visit anymore shortly thereafter - my little bubble of ignorance was much more cozy).

Anyway, it's been nice to follow someone else through this process, and I wish you luck now that it soon to be out of your hands.

Well, it's nice to meet you then. :) And it is very nice to have people to follow through this process. I'm starting to think grad applicants are just a special breed of masochists, so we have to stick together.

Best of luck to you too.
