Hey! Great about the trip! I was hoping it would work out for you to go, because I know you really wanted to. Have fun, and maybe that will be your recovery time.
Oooh lovely. Promise to wave from across the channel. I'm actually planning studying abroad in England as well, but that's won't be til next year. So we'll miss each other unfortunately. But you know, I still have my summer plans.
OH MY GOSH ENGLAND YAY! And on a history tour! I bet you come out of this loving soccer, too - I can't imagine loving a sport, really, but it really seems like once you study anything, it gets under your skin. I know I wouldn't be able to resist. Damn, I wish I could go with - soccer's so big in Germany, it'd be a cool thing...
This is the most awesome thing ever. You are going off-country!
(Side-note: You mentioned going to watch Heroes a while back. How's that treating you? I've seen a lot of people saying it's gotten bad, and I mostly accepted that smugly because I'm a vindictive bitch who doesn't like anything in a genre to be successful except the things I deem Good and Worthy. But then I actually looked at why they didn't like it, and it seemed like it was all, "It got so complicated and there are too many characters and storylines!" which... sounds like a good thing to me.)
That's sort of what I figure, I'll go over, catch the enthusiasm, and that'll be it for me. I sort of hope so. I could do with a good normal obsession to offset the other ones
( ... )
No, no, I likes me some long in my explanations! Poison and fake alliances are always good, too. I suppose they're just doing what any fantasy/sci-fi show feels it must around this point in its run - keep upping the ante. Only that's so very hard to keep doing without crossing the line into ridiculousness. I can respect that problem.
I really should try it sometime, at least. I only resent it for being successful after Buffy's demise, at least, unlike my virulent hatred for Supernatural. (Which, that one doesn't help itself in that anytime I ask anyone to explain, they basically say they watch for the hot guys, hot car, and overwrought angst.)
You needn't worry; Heroes will never replace Buffy. It just can't have the following that Buffy did. It's not nearly classy enough, and is way too overdramatic, and lacking in the funny. People won't cling to it after it's gone, and as much fun as I have with it, dear God I hope it doesn't go for seven seasons. By the time it was over, it'd be worse than a trainwreck.
And Supernatural isn't all that bad...Lauren is an obsessor of the show, and admittedly, likes it for the angst, but also for the lovely brotherly bond and protection that builds the show. I've only seen a few episodes, but the "you're my brother, and I'll do anything for you. Whether you think that's the best thing for you...well, I don't care." is really nice. But I'm a sucker for sibblings. And it does fairly well on its paranormal stuff, so I do give it props for that.
...and they've filmed eps near my town. That endears it a little.
But Buffy will always be first, and will always have the most amazing legacy ever. So you mustn't feel threatened.
