This story really touched my heart. A deer had gone through the ice on a river and was drowning. One man in a kayak tried to save her and another man came along and they got her into a boat. The full story tells that the deer was injured and would probably have to be euthanized. She was also pregnant. How sad...

What a rescue and excellent pictures! For the two nature heroes hearing that the deer would be put down must have been a blow after risking their lives like that. How did it get hurt?

She was injured prior to her rescue it would seem. Possibly an attack by another animal. I know to have her put down would be a shame.
