Medieval bling to brighten gloomy days

Jan 19, 2017 11:20

It's not been the best of weeks as we were having a few problems with my mother at the beginning of the week, none of the news about Brexit alters my view that it will be a disaster and the prospect of President Trump fills me with deep disquiet. To add to this we have to go to a funeral today for an ex-colleague and friend of J's who died suddenly ( Read more... )

I would have loved to go to that exhibition, but have no chance of getting to London in the remaining time.

I hope whatever the problem with your mum is clears up soon. Mine's not well at the moment either, which is always a worry at her age.

My mother goes up and down a lot which gets a bit wearing. She seems to be a bit better now thanks to some antibiotics, which she insists she needs on a long term basis, though her doctor is reluctant to prescribe them for more than a week. I expect once the current prescription runs out the same thing will happen again.

Hope your mother is better soon.

Thanks for sharing the highlights of this fascinating exhibit.

Sorry about the problems with your mother. I, too, am feeling the disquiet of Brexit and our soon to be President.

My pleasure. It was an interesting exhibition. I would have liked to buy the catalogue but it was £35 so I resisted the temptation!

I must admit I find it hard to listen to the news at the moment as it all seems so depressing.

Sorry to hear about your mum - hope she's OK?

Fancy a trip to Ikea next week?

A trip to Ikea would be lovely. I can't do Wednesday or Thursday but the rest of the week is OK I think.

Mum's seems to have been better the past couple of days but she goes up and down all the time so I just continually wait for the next drama. It's a bit tiring!

Oh rats those are the days I could do. How about the following week? I would email you but somewhere along the line your email address has disappeared!!

Oh, that's a pity as Wednesdays and Thursdays are the days I can't usually do. The following week is worse as I can't do Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.

I think I've got your email address so I will email you with mine.

How wonderful to see such an exhibit -- and to take time for yourself that you need!

(I am on edge about the world, too, and I have to remind myself that art and history will make me happy.)

Hugs hugs, and good thoughts for your mother and you all.

Time for myself is a lovely tonic at the moment. It was very nice to have a bit of "me" time.

I must admit I am attempting to bury myself in books and trying to ignore the news. Existing in a state of continuous rage/depression is just too hard to deal with for any length of time.

Many thanks for the hugs and good thoughts. Many, many hugs back to you.

I would loved to have gone but it's an ocean away and will be gone by the time I get there.

Brexit, ugh, and I'm really quite worried about Trump. I will be going to the Women's March in NYC on Sat. Hopefully it will be packed.

Best of luck for the March. It sounds as if it will be huge.

Sadly, the exhibition will be over by the time you get here, but the V&A is always worth a visit anyway, though I always get lost in it :)

The one in Washington should be overwhelming. I'm sure the one in NYC will be huge as well. We'll see.

I do love the V&A's costume exhibit. They do quite a spectacular job of it.
