Silly, serious, and a little bit sad.

A melange of different things.

On Tuesday we went to the Menier Chocolate Factory to see Two Into One a Ray Clooney farce, which was a complete blast from the past in more ways than one. Not only was it a classic old style farce but it also starred Michael Praed, of Robin of Sherwood fame, as the womanising MP Richard Willey (yes, that was the ( Read more... )

That is so cool about the plague victims. It's okay, I'm pretty sure that the virus can't survive that long and still be viable (I hope!) I do rather love that we can test skeletons and actually find that out. So cool.

*hugs about your father* It would have been my granfather's 100th today, so they shared a birthday. :) It's always hard, especially on anniversaries, I hope you have a good day.

Sorry your grandfather isn't around for his 100th. My dad didn't really do birthdays or anniversaries and would have said it was "just another day" (as he memorably, and very dangerously, said about his and my mum's 60th wedding anniversary) but it isn't really.

I'm pretty sure that the virus can't survive that long and still be viable (I hope!)

It's the "I hope" bit that worries me :) Ever since they found the 1918 flu virus in the Arctic I've been a bit worried about people digging around for viruses. The ability to test skeletons is very cool though and it's a fascinating field of archaeology.

Sending all the hugs to you.

I'm glad you've had good outings, too (Michael Praed! My goodness).

[hugs again]

Michael Praed was certainly a blast from the past. Because I haven't really seen him in anything since Robin of Sherwood he's been fixed in my head at that age, so it was a bit strange not to be able to detect any resemblance to Robin!

Many hugs back.

I'd be worried about the plague, too. They've had other things survive that long.

Had to smile about the Game of Thrones comparison. I had no idea that the Red Wedding was based on something historical.

Sorry about your dad. :(

Thanks.

I've probably read too much about the Black Death to find the idea of plague pits anything other than chilling!

I didn't know the Red Wedding was based on anything historical either and I thought I knew 15th century history pretty well!

Ah Michael Praed... I remember him well from Robin of Sherwood. Hadn't seen him since (as far as I remember) so I googled some pics. Time flies.... I didn't know he was that old but aren't we all? He's near my age.

And again - *hugs*

We definitely are all that old, and in my case older :) It's probably because I haven't seen Michael Praed in anything since Robin of Sherwood that the change was so startling.

Many hugs back.
