That jaffa drizzle cake looks tasty - I've done lemon ones but might give this orange one a try for a change. (And I cheat with the liners for loaf tins - Lakeland do special shaped ones!).

I thought Ruby would go to pieces under the pressure and Kimberley's calm would see her through. Frances's cake was by the best though so I'm glad she won. I'm going to miss Bake Off hugely and I do hope they don't change it when it moves to BBC1

Not knowing the gender of the narrator has a really interesting effect because you look at all their interactions slightly differently. It's quite disconcerting at first until you get used to it. When I first read the books I defaulted to thinking Hilary was a woman because I know several female Hilary's, but there is absolutely no way to tell from the text.

Some of the things they make are absolutely spectacular and sometimes they make the same sort of silly mistakes as I do, which is encouraging :)
