Howl's Moving Castle

I keep meaning to write about this and then forgetting that I haven't. Oh, my ageing brain!

Last Thursday we went to see a dramatised version of "Howl's Moving Castle" by the late Diana Wynne Jones at the Southwark Playhouse.

I don't think we're in Ingary anymore )

I absolutely love Howl's Moving Castle. I would've loved to see what they did with the effects, it's too bad they didn't spend as much time on the script. That's definitely a difficult plot to follow if there's not proper explanation, it'd be quite confusing.

It sounds like quite a lot of wasted potential there. :(

It was such a shame because the effects were wonderful and the space they were performing in really felt atmospheric. I'd just reread the book and I was still going "huh" because they'd gutted it so much that it didn't make sense. Definitely wasted potential :(

Yes, it was a pity. Just goes to show that being fantastic technically doesn't trump a good script!

Many hugs back :)
