I'm really very bad at updating at the moment. We went to the seaside on Saturday and just for a change of scene didn't make our usual trip to Brighton but went to Littlehampton instead ( Read more... )

Oh, I adore Bartok's second violin concerto -- I think it was the piece that woke me up to Bartok.

It's one of J's favourite pieces. He's got 3 different recordings of it and one of the reasons we went to this concert was because he wanted to hear a Hungarian orchestra play Bartok. He wasn't disappointed!

I've only got two; I'm just listening to Isaac Stern :) I've never heard it live -- I think it's going to be on in Manchester this season -- really must get off my backside & get around to booking.

I think if we didn't go to the Proms we wouldn't go to anything!

I don't know which recordings J's got as our classical music CDs are in a horrendous mess. We did start cataloguing them but haven't got very far. We haven't bought the same recording twice yet, but it won't be long.

The trip sounds wonderful. I love untampered-with beaches.

The Proms, on the otherhand, I prefer from the comfort of an armchair, though the fact that we're further from the Albert Hall than you may have something to do with it.

We can get home in less than an hour sometimes *g*. I must admit that the heat in the RAH doesn't exactly add to the comfort, but it is a treat to hear the concerts live.

I love untampered-with beaches.

So do I and this was an unexpected treat.
