First and most importantly Happy 82nd Birthday for yesterday to my dad. I didn't actually see him yesterday as he and my mum were on their way to Vienna (I hope). They couldn't get a flight from Gatwick so were flying from City Airport instead because as Dad said "instinct told me to stay away from Heathrow!" I said he should celebrate his birthday ( Read more... )

I'm sure my dad would send long distance thanks for the good wishes *g*. The Doctor Who premiere was fun and we then celebrated by watching The Five Doctors with much goodness from Five :)

I refrained from leaving comments on stormwreath's and aycheb's reviews because I disagree with them so drastically that there was no tactful way of saying so. Buffy 8:13 is, in my eyes, garbage with no redeeming features whatsoever. I didn't just have difficulty suspending my disbelief, I found it totally impossible.

Except with regard to Buffy being an absolute dictator who will not listen to any points of view contradicting her own. I can believe that. Genghis Khan said of one of his officers who was being recommended for promotion; "Yesutai is invincible in combat, knows no fear, and can march indefinitely without suffering hunger or thirst. He is therefore totally unsuitable for high command, for a leader must share the weaknesses of his followers that he may understand them." The Great Khan would have said the same of Buffy.

I must admit it was quite hard. The theory that the comics are written by Andrew is looking more and more plausible. I can swallow quite a bit but the idea that Xander went to stay with Dracula to get over his grief for Anya is really taking crack fic to a whole new level!

I can't help wondering if Joss and co have been madly reading fanfic since the show ended and are now deliberately choosing to do things that no fan writer (for very good reasons) would dare to attempt.
