Yes, I've seen photos of the pages and the artwork is really bad. The only amusing thing to me was the addition of the character of Comte de St. Germain who has been turned into another fictional vampire by author Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.
Yes, I remembered that series too, and was rather hoping he would turn out to be a vampire, but Peter David kept him as an alchemist. Shame about the artwork!
It seems some comic artists worry too much about the "artist" portion of it. They should know that when they're doing an adaptation, the fans want their favorite characters to look like the actors! It's a pet peeve with me, too.
