Oh, you know, same old same old. Performed one of the great choral works of history [1], with one of the great musicians of our time [2] conducting. Another day, another dollar [3].
Maesto Perlman is incredibly sweet, very funny, very humble. He gladly signed a bazillion things for a gazillion people, including my Requiem score. He also told us we sounded incredible, and seemed to really mean it. There were some things I wished we could have done better, and his interpretation is about as different as you'd expect when you have a violin player at the baton rather than a trumpet player, but we did a pretty good job of being supple and giving him what he wanted, I think. I'm a little bit giddy and a little bit starstruck, despite having worked with him before [4]. It's a gift to be able to work with an artist of his caliber.
[1] Mozart's Requiem.
[2] Itzhak Perlman.
[3] I don't actually get paid.
[4] In the broadest of senses. I took a master class with him when I was sixteen. I was one of about a hundred people there. It's a stretch, but a legitimate one, so lay off already.
