OK, so on Saturday, I turned 30. This is wonderful for many reasons. My late teens and early twenties blew really, really hard, and I honestly doubted at times that I would make it all the way to thirty. And yet here I am, and I'm very happy, and have a great life ( Read more... )

What a wonderful birthday! Congratulations on being in your 30's! Mine have definitely been the best part of my life so far.

That's a friend, right there.

At my wedding, my dress needed to be bustled after the ceremony (J. having insisted on a train), so my honor attendant, steve, cheerfully climbed up under my skirts (I was wearing a serious foundation garment, but as you say, still...) and started tying all the ribbons from my waist to the loops under my train. My mother came to find me and, from her perspective in the dressing room door, it looked for all the world like I was just standing there, doing nothing. She said "Come on, Elizabeth, everyone is waiting for you!" and from under my dress a man's voice says "Almost finished, Mrs. Hunter!" The look on her face was one I shall never forget.

Excellent. I'm happy to hear your birthday was a happy one. :)

Damn... now I'm dying to go to the Southern Kitchen. We used to go all the time when we lived within waddling distance of it, but we haven't been there since we moved out of the neighborhood. That needs to change.

What're your schedules like these days? I'd love to meet up with you and Tracy there some Sunday.

Well, How about Monday, May 2nd? Tracy and I are planning on having dinner there that evening. It would be peachy if you could join us. If not, maybe we can figure out a Sunday sometime when we don't have the kid.

AWWWWWWW! I loves you, my darkling! You did an amazing job & made my wedding perfectly scrumptious. And on your 30th, no less. This, ladies & gents, is a wonderful woman. Praise be to my cousin for marrying her.
