Will Read Again

Kathleen Stein, The Genius Engine: Where Memory, Reason, Passion, Violence, and Creativity Intersect in the Human Brain, Wiley, 2007
All about the prefrontal cortex.  Good summaries of recent research. My only quibble is that it should use more diagrams and flowcharts to summarize pathways.

Was The Blind Worm published before Stableford's first novel in the Hooded Swan space opera series?

yes, by a year or two.

Since it isn't a long novel I might give at least the first few chapters a go again some year.

The playa isn't a good place for reading. Some years there I've only read the newspapers- and those are only a page or two long. This year I did read some online news, but not much.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I realize how very odd it sounds to me to be remembering such a long stretch without reading. It is as if I was remembering a week without eating.

Things too hot, or too loud at the playa for reading? As for the lengthy penury of reading, I suppose it's possible for us, voracious readers, provided there is some other stimulation to keep us occupied.
