[lyrics] Cry out to Jesus, and thoughts on Luke 18

I loathe most of Third Day's music. I just do. But this song? It's good. Makes me cry, but offers reassurance to my heart. Before I go to the lyrics, I must share something else I've been thinking about. While I was doing my Biblical Exegesis homework, there was a section in one of the books I was reading which was talking about the need to look at ( Read more... )

Yeah, it doesn't make sense for God to compare himself to something/someone who is unrighteous.

That's a great song!

I'd never heard that comparison made, though I had heard people teach that we need to be persistent in our prayers... I wonder if this is where they'd picked up that idea? *shrug*

It is! Have you heard it before?

I have heard the song! It's a good one, though I'd have to agree that Third Day isn't normally so ingenious and appealing.

Unfortunately, I've also heard sermons purporting the "persistant" theory. I've never really understood so well why it didn't make sense, it just seemed contradictory to so many other things that I knew were true. It's not that persistance isn't a good thing (depending)... it's the way they drew the parallels.

:-) yep, my sentiments exactly.

Right- persistence can be wonderful; it's the way they're applying it, and how what they're saying reflect's on God's character. Seems to me as though, if they can't make what they're saying consistent to what we know of Him, they ought to be re-thinking the parallels they're drawing and the conclusions they're coming to.

I like it when I start to understand why some things just didn't "set right" when I heard them :-)
