I stare at my typewriter keys with the same thought." ~ Mignon McLaughlinI've had a few odd experiences with my writing lately, and I've started calling it my "subconscious writing work" for lack of a better term ( Read more... )

Erm, I realize this is totally not the point of the post, but I love the idea of side story writing! I've got a few scenes that I just can't quite...see yet. I think writing them from a different perspective - even if I never use it - might really give me some clear insights into all the characters involved. Thanks for the idea!

And yeah... I'm beginning to learn that what comes out when I let go and trust my backbrain is always better than the writing I force onto the page. It's kind of a balance for me, I think - I like the security of having an outline to refer to, but my subconscious is so much more effective at telling stories so I'm trying to remain as open and flexible as possible. I'm still learning! :)

Ooh, do it. I've been doing it for a couple years now, usually with a specific goal in mind, but lately I've just been writing whatever pops into my mind & apparently it's helpful :) And then when your book is out in the wild, you can put your "deleted scenes" on your website for all your devoted fans!

I never used to use an outline, but now I use a very loose one- more a list than anything else- when I get stuck or near the end (so I don't forget to wrap anything up).

I think everyone's still learning when it comes to writing! :)
