Some of you might have noticed that I did not post about the SCBWI conference. This isn't because I didn't want to. I really did and I still plan on it. However, this past weekend I realized that I really am having a problem with my wrists. As in, "OMG they hurt all the time ( Read more... )

I hope your wrists feel better soon--and you're totally right that taking care of yourself should come first.

The only thing about the conference that I feel bad about is that I didn't manage to locate most of my on-line writing friends while I was there--and I was too brain dead after the intensives to go to the friday night party :(

Thanks, Pat!

I didn't realize you were going to the conference! I was at the writers intensive,too-- whose tables were you at? I had Bonnie Bader in the morning, and Aimee Friedman in the afternoon and they were both awesome. I wish I could've met you! Boo.

I was following in your shadow. I had Bonnie Bader in the afternoon and John Rudolph
in the morning.

Yeah, I had a great time as well. My only regret is that I didn't realize who was there or even stumble into many of my on-line friends.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I really hope the doctor can help you find a workable solution. *hugs*

Me, too! I'm going a little bit crazy not being able to type... Maybe this will force me to become a plotter, Since all I can really do is think about the story. Wouldn't that be weird?

Hope your wrists get better soon! I used to suffer quite badly from RSI, but it does improve over time and with rest. I used to use voice recognition software way back in the dark ages when it was first released and it was hilarious to read back some of the things it typed - definitely not what I'd said! I gather the software has improved somewhat since then...

Oh, that's really good to know! the rest is driving me crazy, but as long as it's worth it, I'm all for it.

This software works really well, but there are definitely a few things that come out oddly. Plus, it doesn't help that I have characters with weird names--I have one guy who goes by Tenn, so it keeps typing 10. Also, a Genevieve, who goes by Gen and it refuses not to type Jen. *sigh*

Just a thought...do you use a mouse a lot when working on the computer? It's just that my RSI was linked to my mouse-usage, where I was gripping the mouse too tight for long periods of time. Once I quit using the mouse and switched to using a keyboard and touchpad, things definitely improved.

Tenn is an interesting name. Is it short for anything? Tennyson perhaps? : )

I do use a mouse, but not that often, and it's actually my left wrist that hurts worse right now.It would be great if that was the problem, but I'm fairly certain it's the typing.

And yes, Tenn is short for Tennyson. :-)

Thanks, Stephanie! and don't worry, I'm talking this reply (so please forgive any weird typos).

Actually, your post the other day on not being able to make it to the US really helped me make the decision to take a rest, so thank you for sharing about that or I might still be pounding on the keyboard!

Also, that is a really perfect icon. :-)
