Yeah, I'm not really sure how this mid-series break is supposed to be any kind of cliffhanger, either. :O But still, at least we won't have to go crazy over the summer. :)
And yeah, like you, I did really enjoy it, but I think that, since most of us already knew the reveal about River (entirely thanks to other people on my flist, because I hadn't figured it out *g*), I was a bit confused by the lack of approaching cliffhanger/sledgehammer/whatever to justify the mid-series break. I kept waiting for something to happen (or for the plot not to be resolved as far as it did get resolved), and then at the end, it just seemed like everything was coming together and I was a bit "huh". ;D
And quite insisting on the fact that everything was going to be all right. Cue me being even more confused. *g*
Ah, well. I am really curious what the second half of the series will bring us, though. I'm guessing the big thing is how they're going to get out of it, and that presumably River was in the space suit, killing the Doctor (only we know they'll end up going kissy faces at each other, so I guess we know that'll be all right, too...).
See, I'm not sure she was in the space suit. Unless amnesia is involved, it doesn't make sense - she's supposed to be in the Stormcage for killing someone, implied to be the doctor, so if that was the incident referred to, then she must have already done it, but she seems as surprised as everyone else, and even tries to shoot the astronaut as it retreats. So either she forgot somehow (which is possible, I guess, as she doesn't seem to remember a lot of stuff that happened to the little girl, who is presumably Melody), or she was faking being shocked, or it wasn't her.

Ah, well. I am really curious what the second half of the series will bring us, though.
