Umm Happy Kicking Out The English day to all my US friends.
I have about 4 pictures that I really should be working on but I'm still struggling to do that so I installed the new
brush presets for Photoshop that
nk_aoede linked me to. I've been having a ball.
I have four small pieces of umm, I guess original art. Pretty much just experimenting with the brushes but I liked these enough to save them.
Then I have two HP pics. I'm quite pleased with how these came out. Really different to my normal stuff. I guess more like I have done in the past with traditional media.
This is done with the chalk setting. And the background using the hard round translucent. I was just playing to see what effect they had. I love the way the colours mix with the chalk.
This used the hard round translucent brush again. Pretty flower. I quite like the layering effect.
*g* No idea with this one. It was just pretty glowey. *shrugs* The translucent brush again with the glow brush and text.
Chalk brush again. I was watching The Living End clips on YouTube so it's no surprise that I started painting in Black, Red and White.
Chalk brush on a coloured background. I realised just now that I've been drawing this pose for a while. I have a version of it in my notebook and one I did digitally earlier in the year. I've not finished with it either *g* Here's Ron after one of his early Quidditch games. I'm pleased with this. There's not much detail because of the type of brush but I like the effect. There are quite a few things wrong with it but right now I'm happy enough with it to over look them.
Here's George in a quiet moment. This was done with the oil pastel brush and the cloud brush for the background. I love the cloud brush. Expect more backgrounds from this one.
Okay, this was a different way of painting. For starters I didn't use a reference at all. I don't often for faces though. The way the colours lay down is different. It's interesting how different it feels painting it. I'm going to try more like this. I've stuffed up with the light here. For the shadows to be that dark on the left I should have more highlights and glow on the right. *shrugs* I sort of got it in the hair but not the skin. I also didn't do shadows or highlights on the jumper. Whoops. Also, I don't think this expression fits a young George. Ron? probably but then the eyes are the wrong colour. George after the battle? *sticks fingers in her ears and closes eyes* maybe, but then he looks way too young. Maybe he's been hit round the head with a bludger and is a bit spacey *g*
I spent all last night and the night before dreaming about painting (digital). It drove me nuts. I kept waking up and trying to think about something else but I dropped back into painting. The annoying thing was that some of the stuff was really good and I'm not. It was stuff I'm just not capable of doing. Watercolours and things. I'd love to learn watercolour but I seem to have misplaced my paints and I'm not buying more.
