Last night I started drawing a pic for Ruthy's chapter. Today I worked on it from the time I got up and I've finished it.
I'm happy with it *shocked gasp* Oh I know it's not perfect and I can see so many mistakes and I don't know how to fix them, but I like the feel.
I started out with an idea to do a line drawing in black and white but really, how on earth can you pain Ron in black and white. I can't help it. I have to play with the pretty colours for his hair. So I settled on colour.
I'd also come across some new techniques for painting hair and for making shadows and such and I've been using them on another Ron drawing I have going so I thought I'd try and use them in a different way here.
I think the thing that has really made a difference lately to my drawings has been understanding that shadows should be based on a purple colour rather than brown. I think I've gone this way in the past by instinct more than anything but I never really thought about it. Then I was reading a colouring tut. on Artistic Entropy and went, oh yeah, that makes sense. Shadow areas are still filled with blood.
Anyway, I'm rambling again.
