me too. sadly, this is my own cousin that did all this. Dana's my late great-uncle Arley's daughter. she's not a very nice person, and we always knew she was a dog hoarder, but we didn't know she neglected them so badly.

Hoarding is such an odd phenomenon. It's basically a mental disorder, though I don't think it's officially classified as one. People get into this destructive mindset and they honestly don't realize that what they're doing is wrong or unhealthy. Her comments in the article make it seem like she honestly didn't know the dogs had mange and infections. I think if I were a psychiatrist I would study hoarders.

I think it is classified as a mental disorder now, isn't it? Truth is, that side of the family has a long and complex history with mental disorders of some form or another. i think that's where i get my own problems with anxiety and depression. i fully believe that my gran has undiagnosed OCD. it's evident with her shopping addiction and her cleaning thing. even if the house is clean, on the weekends she cleans it from top to bottom.

i think if she didn't work through the week, she'd clean like that everyday, but she just doesn't have the energy when she works.

i could name off an entire list of relatives with problems like these, if it weren't for the fact that i've linked my facebook to this post. ;) lol

This breaks my heart in so many directions. The poor dogs and the poor lady. I hope they find homes for the dogs and get that woman some help.
