Luckily it's my furniture that's waltzing round the house, not me! The Mad Hatter's Tea Party of Furniture continues apace. It's like my house has become a four dimensional Rubik's Cube.
"...I'm going to see if we can get one of those things for hanging ironing boards on cupboard walls..."
An ironing board caddy, you mean? Those are nice, no matter which one you select. If it gets the ironing board up out of the way when it's not in use, any ironing board caddy is aces in my book!
"("You do know what ther means?")"
Er...not precisely. I've been able to figure out that this is a running joke, and that the comical "ther" is used where one would conventionally say, "the." Beyond that...no. Jokes never are funny when you have to explain them to the thick-witted [*looks toward the ceiling, trying to appear nonchalant; whistles idly but knows everyone knows who the thick-witted one is*] and explaining does take a chunk out of the enjoyment of the telling, but would you enlighten me? Please? Even if this is something which doesn't translate well into Amer-English?
Not so much a joke as a literary reference! From the beginning of Winnie The Pooh:
When I first heard his name, I said, just as you are going to say, "But I thought he was a boy?" "So did I," said Christopher Robin. "Then you can't call him Winnie?" "I don't." "But you said--" "He's Winnie-ther-Pooh. Don't you know what 'ther' means?" "Ah, yes, now I do," I said quickly; and I hope you do too, because it is all the explanation you are going to get.
We have one of those Mother and baby lamps (as they are called in Argos). We like it. If you are going for the daylight type, I'll tell you how I get on with Mum's. My large one is great, but it was very dear. Mum's was, too, but fairly close. Hers is as is, mine can come off its base and be used on a (heavy duty) clamp on a window sill or some-such, and can also be fed into a hole on the Mighty Wurlitzer. You could use yours poked into a hole in one of the tables, perhaps?
Have a look at those Useful Boxes I use. Storage 4 Crafts has a great thingy to store them in. Himself might be able to fettle one like it, or you might run to one of theirs. The hold a helluvalot and can be customised almost indefinitely.
We call it Tower of Hanoi Patience, and it always looks worse before it looks better. Cool runnings, to you! :)
I remember your lamps, and Su also has one. They are what gave me the idea. Not sure I want to go for one of the full-spec 'sewing' lamps, but the ability to shove a daylight bulb in somewhere would be good.
I may well look at the Useful Boxes, but I really need things that will fit inside cupboards as floor space it at a premium!
Wherever they put you, it better have a decent shower!
Oh, and yes, the loft conversion will probably happen next summer if the sale goes through. I don't want the roof off in the winter, nor to disrupt the GMNT's first year at college. Fingers are crossed.
It was a rather tired Best Western, in a lovely old Manor House...with a bathroom you could have held an aerobics class in, and the most useless bidet I have ever seen! The shower left most things to be desired too...it was an over bath plastic effort with dodgy heat control and a narrow range of spray...still the towels were fluffy.
The room had a sort of mock canopy bed and feather pillows, hurray! I was on the second floor and had to have people to carry my bags as there was no lift. But I got to eat nice melon and spice mango salsa, followed by roast chicken with a mustard sauce and nice veggies, and they even found me some gluten free rolls and a selection of sorbets to have for pudding - fruit salad has lost its appeal, it's the only pudding I can eat on most menus.

Rubiking is more complex that Tetrising. Tetris is only two dimensions.
