A Very Long Weekend

Sep 07, 2010 19:38

Sat was such a very New York sort of a day. Well, except that there wasn't a line at Sarabeth's: maybe everyone who knows about it was in the Hamptons? I hate how snarled the trains are on the weekends: we talked about going to the Bronx Zoo, which would've been exciting bc I haven't been there since I moved to the city, but yeah. Instead, we ( Read more... )

There's a tapir (and maybe even two) at the Bronx Zoo. It's probably my favorite of all the animals - so much personality in that face! You should definitely take a day and try to get up here while the weather's still warmish - it makes CPZ seem just that much smaller. (And I believe the vast majority of our animals are labeled - or at least their habitats are.)

Actually, I was telling my companion that I'm pretty sure reading your journal is why I have this sudden burning need to go to the Bronx Zoo after ten years :)

I am not sure what to think of the American Idiot musical. I haven't seen it yet, but from what i gather... it's nothing like the story of the record. So, i'm not totally gung-ho on seeing it ( ... )

There are other silks teachers; we can try a different one next time if it fits with the schedule, or I can go on a scouting expedition and see if the other one is better or not. I really would rather avoid riggings so close together, though... but I don't want to pay for a private lesson, either. Pity that I don't know of anywhere that would rent us the silks and then leave us alone for an hour; I feel fairly competent to spot you, though obviously I can't instruct.

A private lesson might not be all that much more expensive...

TSNY has open sessions where you can just work on the apparatus, but they will kick us out if it looks like I'm instructing you, for completely understandable insurance reasons.

I find it hard to believe that you don't know =anyone= who owns a silk.

At the end of the day though, I'd still go back for another lesson with Robin, mostly bc it's an opportunity to do something I like with someone I like an awful lot, with low expectations of the instruction.
