I'm failing at vacation prep

I may have booked my winter vaca back in Sept, but I've been dragging my heels about the last few details, like booking my first hotel room or my visit to the Alhambra. I found the former unusually hard - I guess when I travel abroad, I usually go with a package or stay in hostels, but the small cities I'm visiting in Spain don't have well- ( Read more... )

Because it's always so negative. Because you can always find a horde of negative reviews for even the best hotels, and so it's worse than useless, because it means you read about all these hotels and think that they suck when they really are Just Fine.

Exactly. I hemmed and hawed and didn't book anything bc I was nervous they'd be terrible and then finally I went through and picked one at the right price that was highly ranked and hopefully it's not as dark or as noisy as the malcontents say. On the plus side, it doesn't seem to be in any guide books so.

Did you do a night tour of the Alhambra?

The Alhambra was pretty neat. But then again, I was 16 when I visited it so that was loooong ago.

And yes, you're not supposed to travel w/ a passport that's 6 months away from expiring, but I don't believe that's a hard law, more just a guideline. Something that could get you into trouble places that require visas or look for any reason to deny you or hold you up etc.

Last time I was in Europe, I brought back a bottle of absinthe. Haven't had a chance to try it yet.
