We watched The Truman Show in my CS class today, as part of a project on advertising and the media. I told my students that this movie was particularly interesting because, being released in 1998, it really hit before the big "reality TV craze" of the early millennium, and at the time raised some serious philosophical questions about what ( Read more... )

I'll look forward to hearing about Easter services on Sunday. We haven't gone in years, but I do remember - from my younger years - that they were always heartwarming.

I was a freshman in college in 1998. I also still get carded. I was carded when I bought Sharpies the other day. Yay.

1998... i was in my Sr year of college...

and i thought The Truman Show was overrated... not bad, just over-hyped...

If they think 1998's old, I'd love to see their reaction to Shock Treatment, the little-seen followup to Rocky Horror about a town that lives its entire life on TV. Now that was prescient: it was made in 1981.

On second thoughts, maybe you shouldn't add it to the roster. Some of the content is delightfully questionable.
