Good thorts there. Much of international human rights law was a direct response to Nazi Germany's horrors. I think it's difficult for people to get their heads around the idea that both sides in the conflict can be in the wrong; so much of the rhetoric seems to be about justifying why it's all right for one side to break the law. Can you imagine two neighbours in court, each saying it wasn't a crime for them to break into the other's garage and steal the lawnmower? The judge would laugh and they'd both do time.
