I think creationism should be left to just religious subjects, like Studies of Religion for the HSC (even that still had it's bias').
At my catholic high school, religion before the HSC was boring as. Of course they only taught catholicism, but it was so simple even a pagan could get at least a distinction (*cough* that's me!). Also it was really repetitive.
I upset the teachers a fair few times - that was the fun part :P I think at least most of us have amusing memories of upsetting zealots. Anyone remember rumours of Pope Joan?
RE classes. Isn't that why books were invented? Baiting our RE teacher was like catching fish with dynamite. Heck I can't even remember what denomination my school was - and I topped the class.
Intelligent design should be taught in all schools -- just like Lamarkianism -- it's a great way to show exactly how robust the theory of evolution is. On a more serious note - those schools cater for a market. We can say how terrible it is that students are learning something so absurd, something that quite patently does not fit the evidence, but so long as state schools don't go down the same track - I don't believe it's the state's business to interfere.
I wonder how many repetitions she tried? If octopodes are that smart, maybe they're trying something different each time to see if it changes the result?
