Remember this church sign? I heard the song and saw the video of Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl for the first time this evening in the gym. What was the church so worried about? I mean, it's a pretty cool song, but talk about heteronormative. The whole thing is just a less naked version of the "lesbians" in straight men's porn. She wakes up in bed ( Read more... )

The humourous thing is that a) she is a minister's daughter and b) she was only doing it to cash in on the Lesbian chic vibe going around Hollyweird lately with Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson. It's rather like finding out Tatu weren't Lesbians after all and were just some Russian music marketing guru's cash-infused fantasy to make money. Way over-rated. LOL

Jill Sobule's I Kissed A Girl (same title, completely different song) is much less "ZOMG girls kissing, giggle".

Somewhere out there, I once heard a parody cover of "I Kissed A Girl", sung by a cheery British guy in the style of Herman's Hermits.

"I hope my boyfriend doesn't mind it" was rather more of a zinger that way!

...the thing is, if you were going to kiss a girl, it would be Katy Perry.

Because she's gorgeous and I want her. \o/

The song promotes experimentation and promiscuity. If the church hadn't taken a stand, next thing people would be having sex and getting away with it!

And you're assuming he's her boyfriend. ;-)
