Oooh, that's difficult without knowing more about it. What's the planet like? Do you want a name that humans would use? Or something the natives (what sort of natives?) would call it?

I expect humans would name an alien planet after its (human) discoverer, so something like "Podgorney's World" or "Govinda's Planet". And maybe the Doctor prefers the local name but his (and/or his companions') vocal apparatus either can't produce the right sounds or invariably mangle the pronunciation.

It's an empty rock with a bloody great hive sticking out of the side of a mountain! "Podgorney's World" is a hoot, I think I may go with that one. :)
