Got the Christian Democratic Party flier - that's Fred Nile's bunch. "KEEP OUR HERITAGE". Their policies: "zero tolerance" of drugs, no gay marriage, a 10 year moratorium on Islamic immigration. I question the legality of the latter. The party also "believes that environmental issues are important", whatever that may mean. Same old same old ( Read more... )

Oh, I'm sure environmental issues are important. As in, they find a proposal for a wind farm that may "obstruct" their $500,000 lakefront property view very important to oppose.

We don't seem to get them in my region. Socialist Alliance, yes, Christian Democratic Party, no. Mind you, given the high proportion of people who migrated from the middle east, I'm thinking they might have trouble with the 10 year moratorium. *sigh*

Given that Buddhism and Islam have about the same number of adherents in Australia (according to the last census) why aren't they up in arms about Buddhists taking over our nominally Christian society? Or, come to that, given that the largest growth was in the group of "no religion" why aren't they marching in the streets about atheists taking over our schools and poisoning our children's minds?

Meh, attempting-to-be-populist wankers.

Oh gods. They have an editorial on their site called "The Muslim Problem and What to Do about It". My heart nearly stopped. Surely they recognise the kind of language they're echoing.
