In the gym change room just now, I caught a bit of 60 Minutes on Guantanamo Bay. As you're probably aware, Australian David Hicks has been held there without charge or trial for 5 years, the last 2 of them in solitary confinement. So, the POW conventions only apply when it's convenient for the Administration to say so (namely, when there could be any negative repurcussions from the truth). It says a lot when I can say I'm genuinely not surprised by anything these people do anymore.
