FWIW NPR was interviewing people on the streets of Bhagdad today. Apparently the overwhelming opinion is that the murder of Berg was a stupid and violent act of vengence done by non-Iraqies. They still want justice for the prison incident, but not like that.

Just a small sliver of hope.

Hear, hear. Anyone who is taking sides on this issue, no matter how anti-war they profess themselves to be, is saying that abuse by one side is not as bad as abuse by the other.

Erm... I just finished reading The Year of Intelligent Tigers. It was oddly topical. Although I'm not sure I agree that even doing that would get people to stop fighting each other. There are plenty of people who would keep fighting and hating even if if meant both sides would be destroyed, even if the only way to survive was to stop fighting.

I'm in agreement with you there.

having studied some of what I have.. I'm still stuck on the horror of what it must have been like for the victim.
