I just went to my first circle this week. Everybody explained to me what the Samhain thing was all about.

But now I'm thinking the God doesn't really die... he just goes to Australia. ^__^

What's a svaha?

That is the best piece of theology I've seen done in a long time. :-) I mean, down here, he's in party mode!

Svaha means roughly "Hallelujah!" or "Whoopee!" or "Good heavens, of course!" or "Whoomp, there it is!" I borrowed it from the Buddhist mantra Gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha.

The God continuously parties. When you have Samhain, it's spring up here. So Samhain is not so much mourning as "don't forget to write!"

My part in the ceremony was to walk the priest into the West to symbolise the death of the God. But maybe I should have been walking him South...
