I really enjoyed this. Great job. "...and pulled, and pulled, and pulled. And he hadn't stopped, not even when..." That is our Tony, and we love him for it. If nothing else, Tony is a persistent little bugger, and the heavier note which you wisely left between the lines is that Tony would follow Gibbs to the grave. I loved Tony's longing at the end, his manipulating Gibbs to their mutual benefit. That is an extremely nice touchback on the 'verse, in several ways, as Gibbs is usually the last one to admit certain things to himself about Tony, or in some cases even realize them. And as gallant and sincere as Tony is, he is also crafty. It really made me smile, especially knowing what Tony becomes at the end of HIPS. Thanks for sharing this story!
