Newhaven: Week Seven - The Raymond Family

Jun 15, 2012 21:50

Terry was sad his parents had broken up, but he figured if he and his mum had to live with Mayhew that at least it was good they lived so close to his dad. There was only the back fence separating them after all.

Despite Veronica’s hurt over Lucas’ actions, she remained civil with her son’s father, even allowing him to stay for dinner after coming to visit Terry.

Letting him eat at the same table would take a bit longer.

Mayhew wasn’t fazed by the constant presence of his girlfriend’s ex-husband, he was happy in their relationship and confident she felt the same.

A playful and gentle man (4/4/4/7/6), Mayhew Raymond cared for Veronica very much and his greatest hope was to have a family with her one day and celebrate a long and happy marriage. If this meant waiting until she was ready, he was prepared to do that.

He took his relationship with Terry slowly, knowing he couldn’t replace his father. Terry felt Mayhew was nice enough, but thought it was weird he always won when they played chess. He wasn’t sure Mayhew even knew how to play.

Since Terry had been at school, Veronica had been able to devote more time to her robotics bench. Her new skills meant that she was able to secure a position working in a lab.

This left Mayhew at a ‘house husband’ of sorts, a role which he enjoyed. It also meant he was able to build a relationship with Terry even if it was by allowing him to have friends over whenever he wanted.

Mayhew could never replace his dad in his heart though who was truly his hero. He even had the suit to prove it!

Just as Terry was about to celebrate his birthday, Veronica discovered she was pregnant. Mayhew was ecstatic at the news.

Mayhew had been waiting to propose to Veronica, especially after her first marriage ended so badly. But with the news of their impending child, he cautiously asked if she would indeed become his wife.

She agreed and the two wed then and there.

Their quiet nuptials allowed the full focus to be on Terry’s birthday. His dad hopped the back fence (literally, he was showing off) to see his eldest son become a teenager.

He quickly showed everyone that his main focus in life was having fun, whether that be by partying, dating, or juggling bottles. He was also business minded though, and would have loved to have been able to combine the two and work as a professional party guest.

In a town as small as Newhaven though, that dream wasn’t possible, and instead he accepted his dad’s offer of helping him out in the newly constructed Police Station.

His personal life was, on the other hand, exactly how he had imagined. He and Ivory Darcy became very close and shared their first kiss and many dates together.

Soon the family was joined by a baby boy his parents named James. Mayhew was besotted with his son and seemed a natural when it came to fatherhood.

Terry’s interactions with his youngest brother, on the other hand, suggested he still had a lot to learn when it came to babies.

For Veronica it felt like James’ infancy flew by way too fast. While he was a very active and playful toddler (4/4/9/7/1), she just hoped his temper wasn’t a result of her not being at home with him.
