• All my classes this week have gone really well. (I still bitch-and-moan to some friends about management issues, because that's what you do, but really.) With the exception of Tuesday morning, which never goes well. Gonna work on fixing that.

RE: Denniston's Greek Particles blackletter October 22 2010, 05:59:20 UTC
YES! It is one of my favorite nerd books! Around the department, my love for that book was so well-known that a friend got me a copy of my own for a birthday present. (Although they did find my obsession with particles a little perplexing. And teased me because in Greek Prose Composition class, everyone *always* knew which sentences I translated, because they were the ones with all the serious particle action going on.)

Particles are awesome. And Denniston's book really shows how awesome they are and how much nuance they can add to a phrase.

Hmmm...

I think you should definitely buy Denniston's Greek Particles (as should I), but I'm kind of waiting for the perfect moment: maybe it will call to me from across the aisle of the Seminary Bookstore, or maybe it will show up on the shelves of Powell's for way cheaper than it should have been, as so many academic books seem to eventually. It's the kind of book with which I want my purchase to be special.

Has this happened, or is your need more urgent than mine?

(For instance: you may not have access to an academic library of the Denniston's-Greek-Particles caliber right now.)
