Okay, that made the whole day better

Chad bought a presentation remote thingy for his Boskone talk and just broke it out.

Dogs chase laser-pointers, too.

At great length, and with attempts to eat the little dot, even.

(And then sniff under the couch and in corners trying to figure out where it went.)

dogs, silly

The funniest thing ever was my friend Dave Trowbridge's German Shepherd chasing the laser dot. Digging into the carpet to get it. Leaping into the air to pounce directly onto it from above. Running in a tight circle, nose to tail, to catch it. Muzzle tracking its progress across the ceiling.

Hah. I wonder if it's partly a breed thing?

When we bring out the "little red bug" I make sure to send it under a closet door or the front door before turning the pointer off. It's always amusing to see how long Sam will sit by the door, waiting for the bug to come back out...

Be careful with that. I had a friend who had a black lab which had been 3/4 trained for Canines for Human Independence before she failed out, so he got to keep the dog. The dog got completely addicted to a laser pointer.

It got to the point where the she knew where the pointer was kept and would just sit and stare at the drawer. She would do that instead of eating. It was very sad that such a well trained dog would become an addict like that.

Hah! I'll be sure to warn my in-laws about that, as their dog already does things like that.
