A couple of points: One of the things I like about Dante and Hoenheim being crypto-alternate-universe-Christians is that it explains why the Sins are named for Christian sins. That is, Dante is naming them, presumably in a kind of hubristic mockery. And possibly it explains Dante's name, although I still find it confusing; either I don't know enough about the Inferno or I don't get the basic Japanese interpretation thereof.
Ed not telling Al about the bones kind of mimics Mustang not telling Ed and Al about Lior -- people hiding crucial information from children because they don't want to hurt them. (I think the revenge explanation is iffy, myself.)
Interesting point about the names--at least according to the fansubs, which are easier to check at the moment, the first time Wrath is named as such, it's by Envy. I'd thought perhaps that he remembered his name himself, but apparently not.
This might not quite fit with the suggestion that the Homunculi are limited to seven in number, but that's a suggestion only.
