I am pro-Andersen too. I know quite a few people, including relatives, who actually build the windows. Also they are a locally owned company who is very good for their community in terms of social responsibility.
We looked into gettting Pelle doors for our study and bedroom (french doors in both cases). While the doors were lovely and we would very much have liked to have them, the cost was staggering. We went elsewhere.
The Pelle people came out and did a free estimate for us. You might see if they will do the same for you.

Elsewhere where?
Lowe's and Home Depot, respectively, carry Pella and Andersen and will come out and do estimates (at least Lowe's will, I'm sure HD must), so I think that's our next step.
I'd have to ask Michael what we ended up with. He did all the final dealings with the contractor we worked with. It was something from Home Depot, IIRC.
But the estimate of nearly $7000 for three doors (admittedly the double-paned ones) really did leave me gasping for breath when I heard it.
