Yooou're back! *tackles*

Cowboys being nationalist propaganda? Perhaps - in the sense that they were sort of the frontiers, the pioneers (you know the epitome of the American dream - anyone can achieve it, if you work hard, and cowboys are sort of that - carving a life out for themselves, "aided by no one"). Although I would want proof of it actually being used as propaganda.

Two Wests? *curious now*

I left? :D

Well, apparently, this one ... I think he's a Lit critic, not sure (Kittredge), stated that the cowboy was "invented" to justify the conquering of land and native peoples - a way to stir up pioneering spirit that would ensure the expansion of the nation and good old American patriotism.

Then, he states that as Literature of the American West progressed into the 20th century and writers from more diverse backgrounds emerged, a "new west" was being represented. I maintain that there is only one West, just a natural course of evolution took place until more voices and more perspectives were taken notice of.

Hmm, now that I look at your posting sort of rate, it's not long...it just felt like awhile since you popped up on my flist. (You always post in the evening, when I'm on the computer, so I usually catch your entries as they're posted.)

Yeah, if they're separated by time and influenced by the former, I agree with you. That's just a change of perspective.

She didn't tell you she moved? To another planet where they have 5 seasons, unlike here where it's storm season, dry season, bug season and construction season. ;)

Ugh. 16 hours is precarious as that's when things in almost everything the fridge become questionable or lost outright.
Hope all is well there pip!
