1. If You Leave Me

Sarah Jane jumped at the slam of the door behind her. The spell she had been under broke and she returned to a sudden emptiness which was her reality. For a moment time had stopped, though the phrase really should've been erased from her thoughts after her travels with a Time Lord. Time was fragile and ( Read more... )

Ooooh, so excited for this and where you'll be taking it (especially since I see you're going to reference Face of Evil--oh, please tell me Leela and Sarah Jane meet, that would be epic.) I really, really love Hand of Fear AUs, especially when (all too rarely) they explore Gallifreyan xenophobia and the dark side of Time Lord society.

One of my favorite things about this is the exploration of how different Sarah Jane and the Doctor are, the interspecies gap, in spite of their friendship. I just find that whole dynamic fascinating, and wish more fic explored it.

Favorite bits:

I worry about you, she had said, but he wouldn't accept the same words so soon. "Well then, to prove you haven't been hypnotized you'll just have to take me with you."

"It's too dangerous."

"I'd never forgive myself if I let you go off all hypnotized." She backed up quickly out of his reach. "And don't even think about hypnotizing me to get me to stay out of it."

"Sarah, you know I'd never."

"Good, then it's settled. I won't be but ten minutes."This is ( ... )

Thank you for such a thorough review. It's helpful and interesting to see what plot themes readers pick up on compared to my own thoughts writing it.

I will be writing Leela into the story, but since I haven't seen many episodes with her and it's been a few years since I've seen Face of Evil. So I've been wary of my own plot line. I did mange to find a book version of Face of Evil as written by Terrance Dicks so hopefully I can pick up her characterization well.

This was originally going to be a much shorter chapter. But I wanted to explore why the Doctor would take her. Which led to me first exploring why he didn't take her when he would later take Leela and pushed some of the dynamics of their relationship to the front. I'm glad you find their interactions believable.

I'm fairly sure nothing I could've come up with for Sarah to wear would've ever compared to the Time Lord headdresses. She would've looked plain no matter what she was wearing. ;)

I saw this on another site but still wanted to leave you a review here. I have to say that I am nervous and excited about this story! It will be interesting to see what might have happened if he did take Sarah to Gallifrey with him. Great job!!

Thank you for reviewing and seeking me out twice. I love it when stories get dueling emotions going in me so I see that as a high compliment.

The only hints I'm giving about their trip to Gallifrey is that the consequences are terrible. And that's not even my fault...
