YAY! So glad to hear you had a good day and feel so close to your sister. I hope that for both your sakes, this trend continues. *hug*

Mom would be VERY happy to know that we're getting closer. There's never been a RIFT or anything between us, but I used to feel a kind of disconnect. This is a good thing.

Of course, we never had a lot in common before. It helps that her husband recently introduced her to strategy gaming :)

Yeah, it's still pretty cold here as well, but they've got the field plowed and furrowed and the starts are in a makeshift hot-house in the basement. I guess the celery needs like 80 days before you can plant it, so we should be past the risk of frost. But the hardy stuff can start going in within the next few weeks.

It really WAS a great day :) *hug*

Hosta's great. When we still had the house, we had probably ten or twelve ENORMOUS hosta growing around the back porch and garage. Some ferns are nice too for high-shade areas. I've never been hugely into flowering plants; I like leafy ones more -- kind of subtle but still just lovely. *tries to think of ANY fruit or veggie that does well in shade* Apple trees, maybe?
