I must admit, you've got a lot of variety in your job. :-)

I had to laugh when you said going to Fire Mountain is dangerous; I feel like that in a fabric store!

Speaking of writing dear kat, due to the march of technology, I was able to publish one of the three novels my dad and I wrote together through Amazon digitally for Kindle, and a hard copy version through Create Space. Beyond the Mortal Coil. Still learning the ropes about marketing between this damn cold and job hunting. Anyway, since you write, I wanted to let you know that there are options out there for us. :-)

variety is the spice of life, lol. better that than a low-paying BORING job, i guess

crafting is like an out of control addiction, isn't it? an expensive one, too, lol ... cocaine is cheap compared to fabric and baubles ;)

self-publishing has come a long way since the days when it was all vanity presses taking advantage of people's hopes. if i ever finish any of my original stuff, i may not even bother trying to submit it to a "real" publisher and go that way

your plot looks interesting. i may have to download a copy :)

Yeah, Beyond the Mortal Coil, was actually considered by an editor at Ballantine. The man had the manuscript for 3 or 4 months. When he contacted us again, he said the novel was well written with believable characters and good plot pacing. He went on to say that the novel was very original, in fact so original that it didn't fit any particular niche and he didn't know how to market it, so he was rejecting it. I had to laugh as all the advice put out by these publishers is that they want original stories. They forgot to mention not to make them too original.
