I fail at having fun

Jun 25, 2010 18:00

I try to have fun; I really do. Otherwise I wouldn't have spent an ass-load of money on that stupid game Con (about $80 for my pass and tickets), rented a car ($230), gotten a hotel ($90 a night), driven to fracking Columbus (a tank and a half of gas) when I hate highway driving, spent more than 5 hours in line to get my tickets, and then showed up ( Read more... )

*hugs you* Stupid con organisers! That's really bad; they should have had someone there to explain the rules.

*sends a Weevil after them*

Hey, though, you survived, right?

*more hugs*

Well, it was that specific company rather than the organizers *redirects the Weevil* but it was still utter fail. Still, I survived and that's good at least :)

*hugs you*

*happy Weevil is happy (company = dinner)*

(How could I have missed the Cardiff Retrieval shirt?! *moans* So awesome...)

Sucks about all the frustration. Still - you are so brave with the crowds and noise *big hugs*

Ah, damn. But it's not your fault. You do, too, know how to have fun. It's false advertising and bad marketing and rotten Con admin and mgt ... and you should complain bitterly and suggest most strongly that they should be refunding part of your Con costs for not having lived up to their own advertising. ::hugs::

I think it was less the Con than a lack of communication within that one company. Everything else was exactly as advertised or better and I'll definitely be complaining once I figure out who to complain TO, lol.

I could probably get part of the Con cost refunded but good luck getting back my hotel and car rental costs (which were the best part of the trip, lol; I actually ordered room service for the first time in my life and, once I got over the sticker-shock, I must say "YUMMY!!!" I have never had a better hamburger in my life and the glass of wine I had with it was like an orgasm in my mouth so good times there :D and the car was just amazing and has convinced me that my next car has GOT to be a hybrid). It could have been a lot worse, I think, but I'll stick to smaller events at least until I'm more conversant with the whole gamer/con subculture.

*hugs you* thanks, hon. How's RL treating you? Healing up okay, I hope?

Amen to what your other friends have said. It. IS. NOT. YOUR. FAULT. The con organizers should have let attendees know well in advance that no one would be there to tell newbies how to play the games. That's just wrong, period.

I'm sorry they wasted your money like that.

Glad you got some cool shirts. :D

I'm not sure it was the organizers as much as that one company but, either way, it was crazy-frustrating. But, hey, cool shirts are always cool :D

*hugs you*

that shirt is awesome. LAME LAME LAME that they fucked up that badly. I'm sorry things didn't work out, but I am glad you went and tried it anyway,a nd got to see some good stuff even if the rest was a bust ^^; and even if the demoed game wasn't there, you know what it is called and can probably find it online or order it via a local shop.

*hugs you* It could have been worse, but man was it an expensive bust, lol. Ah, well///

the game is actually fairly affordable online so I'll probably pick up a copy soon. plus cool shirts :D

I wanted, but they didn't have in my size, a shirt with a bunch of polyhedral dice on the chest with the caption "You want to play with them, don't you?" ... I must keep my eyes open for this one in the future ;p
