Robin Hood 2.10 - Walkabout

Dec 08, 2007 20:39

It was a dark and stormy night in Nottingham... Um, what is the Sheriff doing? It looks a bit… um. He’s sporting silk pyjamas? In the Middle Ages? I… Wait, why am I surprised by this?

I really liked the nightmarish lighting and editing in the beginning. Worked well visually, genuinely creepy.

Guy is all disturbed by finding someone else in ( Read more... )

this was a great ep and Much's face was heartbreaking.

Allan and Guy are so good together.

And was anyone else totally drawn by the movement of Guy's hips when he was riding out of Nottingham?

I though the episode what rather exhilarating. I was all flail-and-squee.

Allan and Guy are just fascinating. I was sceptical of the whole Allan-betrays-the-outlaws concept to start with but it has turned so brilliantly in terms of character development. Not to mention the wholly unsubtle BDSM references. win-win.

And was anyone else totally drawn by the movement of Guy's hips when he was riding out of Nottingham? - Yes! I was totally mesmerised by the dirty, dirty roll of his hips.

*G* not just me then.

He's riding out for his big moment and he's working the pelvic thrust.

I love Guy.

I was equally mesmerised. Originally I thought it looked weird that his body was completely still and yet his hips were... oh, hang on... and then couldn't stop staring.

they’ve found their groove mmmm... oh the groove =]

The scene is very reminiscent of LOTR i.e. the Battle of Helms Deep. YES! Yes, it was!

they tend to pause their adventuring regularly to have significant and emotionally charged conversations and those pauses are amazing

Will’s little knife twirl of BRING IT ON MOTHAFUCKAS! I swear someone REALLY needed to say "yippee-kay-yay mother fucker!"

I have nothing but complete unadulterated love for this squee. It puts mine to shame. *hugs*

mmmmmm, groove

I totally flashed back to Aragorn and Legolas when watching Allan handing out weapons.

I swear someone REALLY needed to say "yippee-kay-yay mother fucker!" - I agree, it would be beautiful.

I have nothing but complete unadulterated love for this squee. - awww *basks in love*

Guy is all disturbed by finding someone else in the Sheriff’s bed chambers. Also he totally walked in without knocking. Because clearly he does that all the time.

He also apologised for being late, which made me raise an eyebrow, I tell you what. ("Sorry I'm late for your morning blowjob, m'lord.")

Guy shouting for Allan and being all toppy… nnnggghhhh.

OH THANK GOD I am not the only one who finds that RIDICULOUSLY HOT.

Allan/Guy interaction in this episode fills me with glee. They seem very comfortable somehow, like they’ve found their groove and know exactly what to expect from each other. Guy is also relying on Allan without a question here and Allan is not just obeying orders, he’s being proactive about helping Guy.Yes! Yes yes yes yes yes. I mean. YES! That. Exactly! And I'm incoherent with squee because they were all working together so smoothly and routinely and Allan is really Guy's right-hand man now and I'm SO AFRAID Allan's going to betray Guy to get back in with the Outlaws and dammit, isn't it enough that Guy's got ( ... )

Hahahaaa, you just came over to talk about Guy and Allan and their kinky D/s dynamic, didn't you? I approve!

"Sorry I'm late for your morning blowjob, m'lord." - LOL, this would not sound out of place in Guy's mouth (pun... totally intended)

OH THANK GOD I am not the only one who finds that RIDICULOUSLY HOT. - ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It's practically porn.

I'm SO AFRAID Allan's going to betray Guy to get back in with the Outlaws and dammit, isn't it enough that Guy's got Marian playing him all the time? - I AM SO CONFLICTED! This show has too many pairings I like! On one hand I want to see Allan back with Will (and Djaq), on the other his relationship with Guy is so beautifully warped and co-dependant I don't want to see it break either.

And this would be bad because? - Because my 58230402 WIPs in 48928 different fandoms would probably come alive and murder me in my sleep.

I am convinced this new, kicking-ass Will is the writer's way of indicating he and Djaq are getting it on. FirstSeason! Will - virginity = BadAss!Will, clearly. - ( ... )

Well, it's kinda overwhelmingly almost all I can talk about re: this show, but. Yes. I mean, maybe. I mean, what? *innocentface*

LOL, this would not sound out of place in Guy's mouth (pun... totally intended)

BAD PUN NO COOKIE! But, yes, it's almost scary how easily I can imagine that line in Richard Armitage's voice. o_O

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It's practically porn.

YES! Then again, that goes for this entire show. I swear, it's one bad 70s soundtrack away from being actual porn. Gnnnn.

I AM SO CONFLICTED! This show has too many pairings I like! On one hand I want to see Allan back with Will (and Djaq), on the other his relationship with Guy is so beautifully warped and co-dependant I don't want to see it break either.

I KNOW! I keep wibbling bacxk and forth between wanting to see Allan kiss and make up with Will and the other Outlaws and not wanting to see Guy all alone again and AUGH! This show, I swear! D:

I fully endorse your dissection of Much's characterisation. Especially the bit about "his heart is breaking, it’s breaking and he can’t, won’t let Robin see". That's exactly it. He's pretending to be all happy for Robin, because that's what he's supposed to do, Robin said he was supposed to congratulate him, but inside him something's a little bit more broken than before.

I love how he brings up saving Will’s life last episode and Will can’t exactly deny that but he’s still so hurt by Allan’s betrayal - this feeds back into my argument of "ways in which Will is like Robin". He views Allan's betrayal as exactly that -- a betrayal, stone cold, black-and-white, no discussion. Not just that, but I always got the feeling that Will and Robin were particularly hurt by Allan's betrayal. I wonder how much of Will's attitude has been gleaned from Robin, in that respect...

Um. That army just doesn’t look that threatening. - that's because they're the same ten people, "cleverly" filmed in the middle of the day.

Much and Robin adventuring ( ... )

God. *clings*

I wonder how much of Will's attitude has been gleaned from Robin - Does this mean that Will won't let himself forgive Allan until Robin does?

that's because they're the same ten people, "cleverly" filmed in the middle of the day. - Oh god, you cheapskates! Surely they could have recruited enough extras to make a slightly more impressive looking army?

possibly the single best moment of the episode, y/n? - it's a toss-up between this and Much's face of delicate agony, but this certainly was more uplifting...

I will miss you, but at the same time, I hope you have tonnes and tonnes of fun (and tell me all about it!). - I am sort of going with that weird ( ... )

You can see him wanting to just break down but then Robin tells him that he's not allowed to do that, practically ordering him to be happy about it and just... God. - FIC. I VOTE FOR FIC.

Does this mean that Will won't let himself forgive Allan until Robin does? - quite possibly. Although that doesn't bode well for Allan, because I can't exactly see Robin forgiving him. He might say he will, but the hurt of the betrayal will always be there. That's exactly how I see it happening for Will, as well.

Surely they could have recruited enough extras to make a slightly more impressive looking army? - they could have just used fangirls!

WE ALWAYS VOTE FOR FIC! And then occasionally it happens though mostly it just sits on our hard drives, unfinished, for months.

Will has like hardened his heart against Allan. It's cold and unyielding and shrivelling.

Much clutching at the warm living thing, because he is totally in need of some kind of emotional outlet since Robin got all absorbed with Marian, was only the start of this episode's emotional rollercoaster. *hugs him tightly*

Oh Much’s face when Robin says he gave Marian the ring… *heart-clench* - God, yes... and I thought that would be all we'd get. BUT HE BROUGHT IT UP! REPEATEDLY ( ... )

Much clutching at the warm living thing, because he is totally in need of some kind of emotional outlet since Robin got all absorbed with Marian, was only the start of this episode's emotional rollercoaster. - OMG MUCH, COME CLUTCH ME! I'm way better than a goose plus I will totally bake you cookies.

impending woodland surgery or compound fractures - and and and Much would then be crippled (because woodland surgery is not exactly perfect) and would have to limp for the rest of his life and there would be glorious angst because he couldn't protect Robin anymore so what good is he to anyone and... *whimpers*

The hug was glorious. It was like a replay of the first ep, but more conscious and possibly more lingering. - I thought exactly the same thing! Nice echoing if it was deliberate... And I'm inclined to think it was. But yes, Bonchurch... what happened with that plot device?

There was so much leather in this episode I don't think I even processed it all. - Clearly this needs repeated viewings. To capture every shift of leather- ( ... )

There needs to be some kind of cookies-and-hugs foundation for Much, so we can all have a turn :P

GAH! NO! That would break my heart... crippled Much, wincing in pain at every other step, feeling wretched because Robin keeps forgetting and walking on ahead and then having to stop and let Much catch up...

The only thing I can think about Bonchurch is that the last time Much mentioned it he got the verbal lashing of a lifetime from Robin, so maybe he's being more cautious now? Still, I loved the hug. It was so unexpected (in the real world, anyway) and then so sad because Much didn't want Robin to see his face...

Mmmmm, leather-based rewatchings. :)

crippled Much, wincing in pain at every other step, feeling wretched because Robin keeps forgetting and walking on ahead and then having to stop and let Much catch up... - And Robin, he hates himself every time, but he just keeps forgetting, not because he's being deliberately cruel but because Much's injury really makes no difference to how Robin sees Much, how he relies on him.

It was so unexpected (in the real world, anyway) and then so sad because Much didn't want Robin to see his face... - I love how they filemd it so that Much's face was visible over Robin's shoulder and how you could see him holding it together right until Robin turned away and his smile just wavers and... omg, my heart can't take this.
