So I read Here At The Right Time and for the very first time I began to understand the motivations etc. for the D/S and wasn't actually put off by all the sex/exploration. It still does almost nothing for me though I did find their emotions and excitement fascinating. Thanks for the rec, because it was good to read something that went some way towards explaining! Most D/S fic is all just PWP and clearly directed at readers who are already interested. Your Unmarked Place stuff is good because of the character/world building and the suspense. This was good because it got inside their heads.

That's both awesome and interesting that it was this particular fic that managed to do that. A good bdsm fic is one that deals with the psychological side of things as well, one that explains the why as well as the how.

Unmarked Place does try to do that as well, though because it is an established bdsm setting some of things are perhaps a bit 'taken for granted' though we try to but things across subtly as well, without preaching :D

I think maybe your Unmarked Place fics do do that but because they are quite short and with long gaps between 'publications' I tend to focus more on the outward manifestations of characters and plot, and less on the psychology. This fic had the length that allowed the reader (well, this reader, anyway)to get inside the characters' heads as well as watching their actions. It might explain my preference for long fics!

True, possibly you will have to wait until the whole 'verse has been written and published to read it... Although that could be a long wait! :D
