So, Michelle Bachmann (crackpot Republican representative from Minnesota) is comparing her anti-Obama, anti-health-care allies and their effort to the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Hint, Rep. Bachmann. If you're going to reference history, please, PLEASE, PLEASE understand the event that you're referencing. Because you compare yourself to the ( Read more... )

Um, didn't the light brigade get shot to pieces and basically mocked through history for stupidity?

Yes. You were expecting Michelle Bachmann to be referencing history correctly? Thus the "idiots" and "morons" tags. :D And the paraphrase of Inigo Montoya.

No, obviously given my knock on Sarah Palin today it's pretty obvious I don't think they're very familiar with reality.

It's like I keep laughing over their use of the term "teabagger", as I kindly explain to anyone who will listen how one becomes a proper "teabagger". It's really fun to explain to my VERY conservative classmates.

Have to love the Republicans. They're comedy gold!

I would be willing to bet that she made the reference because she thought it would make her sound smart and well-read. Instead it had the opposite effect.

God Bless the Republicans!!! They're simply here to make us snort and chuckle.

I couldn't imagine the Tories making such a blunder, even if they were to reference a work of American Literature, because the Tories are, for all their faults, a bit to the educated and erudite side. The Republicans revel in their ignorance, then wonder why we laugh at them, and then call us "elitists" when we do.

I dunno the Tories have made slips before. Its just a shame some people are so ignorent and yet still be in a position of power ::sigh::

I don't think that a Tory would reference the Charge of the Light Brigade as anything other than a suicide mission, though. I think that even your most uneducated politicians have a better sense of history than about 50% of Americans do.
